Basic compression. This removes metadata and optimizes the PDF's structure. Expect around 5–20% smaller for most files (often 0% if it's already optimized). It does not re-encode images — for heavy image compression, a desktop tool will do more.

100% processed on your device. Nothing is uploaded.

100% Private

Your file stays in your browser. It is never uploaded to a server — not even ours.

Lightning Fast

No upload, no waiting in a queue. Compression happens instantly on your own device.

Frequently asked questions

How much smaller will my PDF get?

Honestly — it depends, and often not by a lot. Files exported from Office apps or loaded with metadata can shrink 10–30%. Clean, text-only PDFs shrink a little. Already-optimized or image-heavy PDFs may not shrink at all, because this tool doesn't re-encode images. We show the exact before/after so there are no surprises.

Why can't it compress like Adobe or iLovePDF?

The biggest savings come from re-encoding embedded images at a lower quality. Doing that reliably in the browser is complex and out of scope for this free tool. Instead we do the safe, lossless wins: stripping metadata and optimizing the file structure. For aggressive image compression, a desktop tool will outperform us.

Where do my files go?

Nowhere. All compression happens locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your PDF is never sent over the internet, never touches a server, and is never stored. When you close the tab, it's gone.

Will removing annotations or forms change my document?

Those two options are off by default precisely because they change content. “Remove annotations” deletes comments and highlights; “Remove form fields” strips interactive fields. Only turn them on if you don't need that content — the page text and images stay intact either way.

Does it work on mobile?

Yes. It works on phones, tablets, and desktops in any modern browser — Chrome, Safari, Firefox, and Edge. The interface is fully touch-friendly.
